Healing and Integrating Masculine and Feminine Energies in the Individual, in Relationships & in Society

The Power of Reconciliation Program

The Power of Reconciliation program synthesizes wisdom from the world's spiritual traditions to bring new dimensions of healing and reconciliation between masculine and feminine dimensions within the individual, within relationships, and within society. Men as well as women are wounded by gender injustice and each needs the other for a true and complete healing. This program builds on the advances of the women's and men's movements of the past 50 years to bring positive change and transformation by exploring ways in which both men and women have all suffered from living in a patriarchal society.

A spiritual foundation is essential to gender reconciliation. The challenge of sexism and gender disharmony is ultimately a collective spiritual crisis. As Martin Luther King emphasized in the pioneering Freedom Movement work, the issue was not blacks versus whites, but rather justice versus injustice. So too here: the issue is not men versus women, but justice versus injustice. Yet both the women's and men's movements have tended to develop their advocacy in polarized gender terms. Both sides have limited their analysis and change processes to psychological and sociological frameworks, while often ignoring the deeper spiritual aspects. A more unitive "spiritual" dimension of consciousness is fundamental to transforming gender injustice.

Only on this level can the duality of opposites be transcended in a deeper, all-encompassing unity resulting in a sacred marriage of masculine and feminine energies on the intrapersonal, interpersonal or cultural dimension.

Join us October 2-6 to:

• Experience the power of healing between women and men

• Unmask the hidden depths of gender conditioning

• Discover intimacy beyond sexual and romantic stereotypes

• Reclaim the hidden mysteries of the sacred masculine and feminine

What happens in this workshop?

The ultimate purpose of this work is to transform the roots of gender disharmony in ourselves and our society, so that humanity may once again soar on healed wings of masculine/feminine balance. The work follows an alchemical wisdom that consciously explores gender imbalance in our social and personal worlds, and works through this material by various means including: contemplative practices, heartfelt truth-telling in community, women’s and men’s circles, conscious breathing and presence, and ritual honoring and celebration including movement, song, and dance. The result is an uplifting experience of healing and forgiveness that rekindles the resplendent communion of masculine and feminine.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is open to people of all sexual orientations, faith traditions, race, ethnic and cultural background. Young adults, as well as older adults are encouraged to attend. This workshop is particularly valuable for people in the service professions including, health professionals, clergy, psychotherapists, teachers, activists, spiritual directors, academics, university and seminary students.

Where is the retreat?

Located in the Osage River Hills of the northwestern Ozarks, the retreat will be at the Redbud Group Camp at the Lake of the Ozarks State Park in Kaiser, Missouri. The camp is on the lake, hiking trails, and scenic views. Meals and lodging are provided with the registration. Meals will be primarily vegetarian. Cabinet and refrigeration space in the kitchen will be available for participants to bring any special foods as needed. Rustic dormitory style cabins accommodate six participants each. Participants need to bring bedding (a sleeping bag is ideal), towels, and toiletries. Bathrooms and showers are in a separate building, close to the cabins. Detailed travel information will be provided with registration confirmation.

When is the retreat?

The retreat begins with a light dinner on Thursday, October 2, 2008 and ends at noon Monday, October 6, 2008. This is a residential retreat and it is important to building community that participants are present from beginning to end.

"I was deeply moved and changed, and am profoundly grateful for the whole experience. I see more about how I re-enact dysfunctional gender scenarios, despite my conscious commitment to change. The Satyana vision is unique and uniquely valuable to the world."

– Peter Rutter, MD, Author of Sex in the Forbidden Zone: When Men in Power Betray Women’s Trust

“Feedback has been beyond expectation. Afterward the participants’ colleagues could not believe the changes that happened so fast over a four day program. They stated they saw grounded states, kindness, fun, people looked younger, body language changed, and there was an aura of energy so calm. The workshop participants can hardly wait to have you come back in the spring and bring them to the next level of spiritual living.”

– Karen McAllister, Human Resources consultant
